WSBCTC Second Chance Committee.

The WSBCTC Second Chance Committee is committed to creating pathways for formerly incarcerated individuals to enter and thrive in the Building Trades. Through collaboration with our affiliates, we aim to provide essential resources and support to our members and future members. Our mission is to educate the public, affiliates, and both incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals on the benefits of construction jobs, sustainable living wages, and comprehensive benefits. We actively work to change policies and procedures related to recidivism and reentry, facilitating smoother transitions back into society. By breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity, we strive to empower individuals and strengthen our communities, ensuring a brighter future for all.

Committee work

Committee members meet monthly to:
  • Plan and report on outreach opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other justice-impacted and reentry organizations.
  • Follow through with reentering individuals interested in apprenticeship and connect them with resources.
  • Educate committee members through guest speakers and partner organizations focused on post-conviction relief, reentry support, and barrier-reduction resources, helping strengthen connections to the services available to the individuals we serve.
If you are part of an organization that supports justice-impacted individuals through legal services, reentry support, resources, or barrier-reduction efforts, and are interested in connecting with our Committee, please contact Minna Long at [email protected]

Connect with Us

We are committed to showing what's possible for individuals with conviction histories and those navigating reentry. In partnership with correctional facilities, community organizations, and reentry partners, we conduct outreach to share lived experiences, provide information about registered apprenticeship opportunities in the Building Trades, and help connect individuals with resources and support after release.
We welcome opportunities to connect directly with currently and formerly incarcerated individuals, facility programs, and community partners. To request a facility visit or learn more, please contact Minna Long at [email protected]
